Questions & Answers Masalo® Cuff MED

What size should I order and how do I measure correctly?

All information can be found below and on the Article page.

Please note that you can only achieve pain relief with the correct size of Masalo cuff.
Therefore, please measure the exact circumference of the thickest part of the affected forearm (measure in a relaxed state with the arm slightly stretched).

If you do not have a tape measure to hand, you can print one out here.

Compare the measurement you have taken with our size chart.

Size 1 fits from about 20cm forearm circumference.

Both sizes fit between 25.5cm and 28.5cm, please choose size 1 for a forearm circumference of 27cm or less and size 2 for a circumference of more than 27cm.

When ordering, please also select the arm (left or right) for which you require the cuff, as the Masalo® cuff is only optimized for one side of the arm due to its different design.

What is the Masalo® cuff used for?

The Masalo® cuff can be used for acute and chronic epicondylitis (tennis elbow, golf elbow, mouse elbow), as well as for prevention.

How does the Masalo® cuff work?

The Masalo® cuff relieves the tendons in the elbow area thanks to an innovative counter-traction system. The tendon insertions are "relaxed". In addition, the forearm muscles are stretched and extended with every movement of the arm towards the elbow. These movements massage the forearm muscles, which can release cramps.

Does the Masalo® cuff help in every case?

Does the Masalo® cuff help in every case?

The Masalo® cuff is a medical product and medical problems are very individual for everyone. In the same way, tennis elbow and golfer's elbow develop differently for everyone.

Take a look at our experience reports or browse through various test reports, press articles and TV reports and you will see that our product has already successfully healed thousands of "tennis" and "golfer's arms".

The Masalo® cuff works according to a logical and simple physical principle. Tensile forces are reduced and almost neutralized by a counter-traction. This relieves the tendons and the affected area.

You can do the following test:
Hold your healthy arm/hand exactly in the middle of the forearm of the affected arm. Then pull the tissue/flesh towards your elbow once with full force.
If you stretch your arm and put a little strain on it, you should feel a slight relief of pain. If this is the case, our cuff will also help you.

Nevertheless, the Masalo® Cuff is not a miracle cure and does not work for everyone. If you traditionally have pain at rest and when stretching (with movement of the hand, fingers...), you should feel significant relief and pain relief immediately after correct application of the cuff, ideally you will also achieve immediate pain relief, but this is not the case for everyone. If your pain mainly occurs when you bend your arm (usually with "golfer's elbow"), you will also feel significant relief when the support is applied correctly, but it may take a little longer to reduce the pain when your arm is bent.

However, we cannot and must not give a guarantee under any circumstances. In principle, this does not apply to medical problems, aids and treatments.

If you are unsure, simply print out the product sheet and show it to your doctor. A doctor will be able to assess very quickly whether the Masalo® cuff can also be used for your therapy.

You take no risk with the purchase of the Masalo® cuff. In distance selling (online and mail order) you always have a right of withdrawal.

Once you have received and fitted the cuff, you can decide whether you want to try the cuff or send it back. Please note, however, that the Masalo® cuff can only work if it is put on absolutely correctly. Therefore, when putting it on, follow the instructions on our application page when putting it on.

If you still don't like the Masalo® cuff, please return the unworn item (please enclose the original invoice!). Once we have received the returned item, we will check it and refund the purchase price in accordance with the return conditions. You can try on the cuff as you would in a store. However, please understand that we cannot take back worn and/or soiled items.

What do I do if the Masalo® cuff does not help me immediately?

First of all, please visit our page with additional information on creating, handling, care and user tips. If the Masalo® cuff does not provide noticeable relief immediately after application, something is probably wrong (cuff is not optimally applied, does not fit, etc.). You can find this out with the information on the application page. You will also find detailed information on how best to contact us and how we can help you more quickly.

It is very important to us that the Masalo® cuff helps you effectively. Therefore, please do not try it out unnecessarily and take your time to read the above page.

If you have put on the Masalo® cuff correctly, you should definitely feel significant relief within 15 - 30 minutes.
If you have classic tennis elbow, you should immediately notice that there is significantly less pain when lifting with a correctly fitted cuff, for example (ideally, you should be able to put weight on your arm again immediately without pain).

If you have what is known as golfer's elbow, you may initially "only" feel relief from the painful tendon insertions. Golfer's elbow can be more protracted and often associated with pain when the arm is bent.

In any case, you should be patient. There are customers who can immediately put full weight on their arm and use it again without pain (or almost without pain) and who can return to normal sport and work within just 1-3 days, and others for whom it can take weeks to see a steady improvement. This is completely different for everyone.

If you feel the countertraction and you definitely have tennis elbow or golf elbow (epicondylitis), you have a really good chance that the Masalo® sleeve will help you too.

How quickly does the Masalo® cuff help?

In any case, you should feel significant relief in the area of the injured tendon insertions immediately after correct application, within 15 - 30 minutes. Most tennis elbow patients are able to lift objects again within this time, or even without pain.

Basically, however, it depends entirely on your individual situation with regard to your tennis or golf elbow, which "unsuitable" therapies and measures you have undergone and whether you really have such an injury/disease. A well-founded diagnosis is therefore urgently recommended. Please do not experiment with your health.

Although the relief of the tendon insertions takes effect immediately after correct application, how much pain relief you achieve depends on many factors.

For example, if you have recently received injections or other therapies, this may well be the cause of the pain. The progression can be steady and linear or in intervals with improvement - pain - improvement etc.

You may have done something to your arm in the meantime, which may temporarily exacerbate the problem again, or you may be fighting an inflammation.

Medicine is so complex that it is impossible to predict how it will develop for you. It is not for nothing that doctors have to meet high standards, study for many years and undergo constant further training. The cuff works according to an effective, simple, mechanical and logical principle.

If in doubt, please speak to a doctor you trust.

How do I find out whether the Masalo® cuff can help me?

If you have classic tennis elbow or golf elbow and a reliable diagnosis has been made by a doctor, you have a very good chance that the Masalo® sleeve can help you.

Buy your cuff, put it on correctly and then decide whether you want to try it. Otherwise, please return it unworn and you will receive a full refund. You are also welcome to ask your doctor for advice before purchasing whether he or she thinks the cuff is suitable for you. You can either show the cuff or print out the product sheet and show it to your doctor.

The countertraction principle has also been used with tapes for a long time, which is why sports physicians and physiotherapists in particular endorse the principle of the Masalo® sleeve.
However, taping cannot achieve the same effectiveness as the Masalo® sleeve. The tape works more on the surface, whereas the Masalo® Cuff moves the entire muscles and tendons.

Can I still stretch my arm with the Masalo® cuff?

Yes, you can still fully extend your arm with the cuff in place. The tighter you adjust the cuff on the upper arm strap, the more force you need to fully extend your arm and the greater the countertraction and relief. This is why many customers adjust the cuff a little tighter at the beginning.

You can and should move and use your arm as normally as possible and carry out all activities, but always listen to your body's pain signals.

Can I go back to work and exercise with the Masalo® cuff?

Yes, if you really have a tennis or golf elbow and the cuff helps you, you can and should move and use your arm as normally as possible with the cuff on.

Customers report that pain-free tennis, squash, golf and strength training can be resumed quickly as the cuff provides protection thanks to the counter-traction principle. Particularly strenuous activities such as climbing, bouldering or table tennis can also be resumed quickly.

You should also be able to carry out manual activities with full strength again quickly.

If you do weight training or bodybuilding or simply enjoy going to the gym, you are welcome to read our sports info page through.

How long and how often should I wear the Masalo® cuff?

Epicondylitis can take quite a long time to heal completely, which is why it is normal to wear it for between 4 weeks and 6 months.

This duration is influenced, among other things, by the intensity of the injury, the general duration of the injury, previous therapies and, of course, the consistency with which the cuff is worn.

The more consistently you wear the cuff, the better it supports the healing process.

We recommend wearing the sleeve permanently, i.e. day and night, for the first two weeks if possible and then as regularly as possible until complete healing.

For this reason, many customers use a second cuff for changing (after work, after sport, washing the cuff, etc.), so that you are optimally protected at all times.

Medical questions & answers: Surgery, bursitis & co. - can the cuff help me?

I have chronic epicondylitis and am due to have surgery. Can the Masalo® cuff help me?
Customers who have had the problem for a long time and in quite extreme cases in particular report that the cuff can provide immediate relief and pain relief (or freedom from pain). This includes cases that have been struggling with the problem for many years and particularly appreciate the quality of life they have regained with the cuff.
Most surgeons and general practitioners are very positive about the Masalo® cuff. Talk to your doctor and show him the cuff or the printed product sheet.

I have already had an operation and am still in pain. Can the Masalo® cuff still help me?
It's definitely worth a try. We have some customers who were still in pain after an operation and are now able to move again thanks to the cuff.

I have severe pain, especially at night and in the morning. Can the Masalo® sleeve help me with this?
This is very typical for tennis elbow and golfer's elbow. Most customers report pain at night and sleepless nights. At night, they cannot control their movements and turn in their sleep, perhaps supporting themselves with their arm. Many also report "pain at rest" when the arm is simply lying down. The Masalo® cuff can and should also be worn at night, at least initially (about 1-2 weeks), as your tendons are then also protected during sleep. The blood circulation is not disturbed, which means that you can wear the cuff permanently. You should soon be able to get a good night's sleep again.

I have bursitis. Can the Masalo® sleeve still help me?
The Masalo® sleeve is a very effective support for epicondylitis, but you should not experiment with it, as this support develops strong forces. These forces also act on the elbow, which can also be negative if the diagnosis is incorrect or different.

Furthermore, we are not permitted to give medical advice and our statements must not replace medical advice under any circumstances.

It is very often the case that there are two different problems with epicondylitis (an injured tendon - which can be treated very well with our sleeve, as it provides immediate and lasting relief when worn, provided the support is applied and used correctly - and in many cases inflammation, which is often caused by the injured tendons). Bursitis (inflammation of the bursa) may or may not be related to epicondylitis.

Please discuss this with your doctor and show him our mode of action. Your doctor will certainly be able to tell you whether the Masalo® cuff is more likely to help or harm you.
